  The Angora Rabbit

Angora Rabbit
This is a hands-on workshop using a live rabbit.  This class will interest first time Angora Rabbit owners and breeders.  The workshop will provide instruction on how to handle and groom an Angora Rabbit properly.  Further instruction will guide the student on how to care for, harvest and spin Angora Rabbit fiber.  Emphasis is placed on the care of the rabbit.

Prerequisite: Basic Spinning Skills

Bring With You: A spinning wheel or spindle, Hand Cards (or wire dog brish), Ball Winder or Niddy Noddy, a small lap towel to catch the fibers, For blending bring a bobbin with one ply yarn already spun

The demonstration bunny will be given to a lucky interested student.

  Learn To Hackle

Understanding The Icelandic Fleece
Would you like to blend fiber or color but don't have a drum carder? Come learn what you can do on the hackle.  Bring all those fiber pieces and Diana will show you how to use the hackle to gain the effect that you want.

  Understanding The Icelandic Fleece:
Spinning In The Grease

Understanding The Icelandic Fleece

 

You will learn to separate the fleece for two different fibers and how to spin them. Understanding this gorgeous fleece is key to knowing how to spin un-processed fleece. Each student will have spun TOG (outer coat) and THEL (undercoat) of the fleece and then TOG & THEL together. A new language and new fleece to enjoy!

Prerequisite: Experienced Spinners

Bring With You: Spinning Wheel, Spindles and Long-Toothed Viking combs if you have them.

Icelandic fleece will be provided for the students’ class-time spinning.

  Spin The Colors Of The Shetland

Shetland Roving
Shetland sheep come in many colors from light and dark grey, Emsket, Shaela, musket, fawn, mioget, moorit, and black and white.  You will be able to spin these colors and more from these delightful little sheep.  Prepared roving of all colors will be provided. 

Prerequisite: Basic Spinning Skills - Beginners Welcome!

Bring With You: Your spinning wheel or drop spindle, extra bobbins for plying, and niddy noddy or ball winder.
